"The arrangement by which Messrs E Hertzberg and Sons and their predecessors Messrs Ringer and Hertzberg had done all the general binding of the Library since the beginning was terminated early in the year. The cooperative arrangement with the Newberry Library previously confined to medical books was extended to cover all the work. The employees of Messrs Hertzberg and Sons who had previously done the work of shelfmarking, inserting book plates, repairing, etc at the Library were added to the Library staff. The cost of the work will not be increased but it can no longer be stated exactly." Annual Report (1917) of the John Crerar Library.
