Born in Philadelphia, he studied art at Adelphi College in Brooklyn (NY) and the Art Students League in New York City. He was a book and magazine illustrator for major publishers, including McClure's and The Saturday Evening Post. He was recognized for his Western and wildlife scenes. Edwards was also a photographer.
