If he had lived, this young American designer of the cloth covers of books and of posters would have done notable, permanent work. Much under thirty when he died suddenly of pneumonia, he was little over twenty when he first came to London and visited publishers’ offices with letters of introduction from Mrs. Atherton and samples of the work he had done in the United States.
