A designer who does not seem to have also been an illustrator. They designed covers mainly for religious publishers and/or books with religious themes, like those published by the American Tract Society, R.F. Fenno, Frederick A. Stokes and the Mershon company.
All of their designs have been found on books by American publishers, and so they are presumed to also be from the United States.
