Intro

Definition: en:In bookbinding, the words, letters, numbers, etc., printed, stamped or pasted in alphabetical, numerical, or other order: 1) in spaces cut or gouged in the fore edge of the book; 2) tabs attached to the leaves at the fore edge; or 3) printed on the leaves of the book, or on separate sheets to be inserted in their proper position in the book. The purpose of the index is to facilitate quick reference to the contents.
