Oh my god I just made a protective plastic L-sleeve for a 5.5 feet (1.7 meters) long panoramic photograph and I just need to sit down for a bit now and catch my breath. It is longer than I am tall. That is a 15 inch ruler for scale, by the way.
Did I mention I did it without any help? That means I was walking around the conservation lab for a little bit with the plastic draped over the top of my head while I moved if from the encapsulating machine to the table for trimming. Also, this thing is so long it wouldn’t fit in the board shear OR our mat-cutter, so I had to cut the dang thing by hand with a straight edge and a knife.
But now this 19th century panoramic photograph of a mining town is one step closer to being able to return to its home in our university archives.
