Spotted this cute cover with a dapper bicycle riding man on it. The red cloth of the spine has faded dramatically, but the cover was still a nice bright red, and the gold stamped decoration remains shiny. The book is “The Wheels of Chance” by H.G. Wells, and this edition was published in 1896.

Even very old original cameras are not immune to being “fixed” with tape! Poor camera! Just say NO to putting tape on cultural heritage and artifacts and books!!

This is by far the funniest thing I have seen in a museum, in a long long while. This museum really doesn’t want to scandalize their visitors with ancient dick.

Someone “repaired” this book with a tape that strongly resembles a mummy’s wrappings. The book is titled “Death and the Afterlife in Ancient Egypt”. What synergy! Also, if you do this, you’ll get cursed by a conservator, which is a LOT worse than a mummy’s curse.

Yes, I am that kind of person who visits the local library while on vacation. This is the bike rack outside of Syracuse’s petite Petit library in the Wescott neighborhood.
